A propos de l'Orchestre Symphonique de Saint Gall (SOSG) :

" N'oubliez pas, je vous prie, combien de joie j'ai éprouvée, sur le plan artistique et humain, à St-Gall ; autant à l'orchestre, duquel j'estime la grande qualité et qui pourrait servir d'exemple à bien des orchestres qu'à son zèle de travail et sa volonté de réussir ". C'est le grand chef d'orchestre Carl Schuricht qui a émis ce compliment à l'adresse du SOSG à la fin de son mandat comme chef invité permanent. Schuricht, et après lui des chefs illustres comme Paul Kletzki ou André Cluytens ont continué l'héritage d'Othmar Schoeck. En 1917, cet important compositeur suisse a pris en main les concerts symphoniques de St-Gall ainsi que la vie musicale de la ville pendant presque trois décennies et y a laissé son empreinte. Jean-Marie Auberson, Armin Jordan, Kurt Brass, Samuel Friedmann et John Neschling ont dirigé le SOSG entre 1963 et 1996.

About the Symphony Orchestra of Saint Gallen (SOSG) :

" Do not forget, please, how much joy I have felt, in both the artistic and human planes, in St-Gall ; with the orchestra, the great quality of which I esteem and which could serve as an example to many orchestras, as much as with its zeal at work and its will to succeed ". It is the great conductor Carl Schuricht who addressed that compliment to the SOSG at the end of his term as a permanent guest conductor. Schuricht, and after him famous conductors like Paul Kletzki or André Cluytens have perpetuated the heritage of Othmar Schoeck. In 1917, and for nearly three decades, this important Swiss composer took on the symphonic concerts of St-Gall and the musical activities of the town as well, which bear his imprint. Jean-Marie Auberson, Armin Jordan, Kurt Brass, Samuel Friedmann and John Neschling conducted the SOSG from 1963 to 1996.
